You would know
the secret of death.
你们想知晓死亡的奥秘。
But how shall you find it
unless you seek it
in the heart of life?
除非你们在生命的心里寻觅,
否则你们如何能找到答案呢?
The owl
whose night-bound eyes
are blind unto the day
cannot unveil the mystery
of light.
猫头鹰的双眼只能识得夜间景物,
在白昼中是眼盲的,
因此他无法探知光的奥秘。
If you would indeed behold
the spirit of death,
open your heart wide
unto the body of life.
若你真想掌握住死亡的心灵,
那么就对生命之体敞开心门吧。
For life and death are one,
even as the river
and the sea are one.
因为生与死乃是一体,
犹如溪流和大海本属同源。
In the depth
of your hopes and desires
lies your silent knowledge
of the beyond;
在你希望与欲念的深处,
静卧着你对来世沉默的理解;
And like seeds dreaming
beneath the snow
your heart dreams of spring.
犹如冰雪覆盖下种子的梦想,
你的心也憧憬着春天。
Trust the dreams,
for in them is hidden
the gate to eternity.
信赖你的憧憬吧,
因为潜藏在憧憬之下的
乃是通往永恒的大门。
Your fear of death
is but the trembling
of the shepherd
when he stands
before the king whose hand
is to be laid
upon him in honour.
你对死亡的恐惧
不过就像站在国王面前,
领受亲授荣誉的牧羊人的颤栗。
Is the shepherd not joyful
beneath his trembling,
that he shall wear
the mark of the king?
外表颤惧的牧羊人,
内心岂不因国王亲授荣誉而喜乐?
Yet is he not more mindful
of his trembling?
然而,
他岂不因此更重视自己的颤栗吗?
For what is it to die
but to stand naked
in the wind
and to melt into the sun?
死亡不就是赤裸的伫立于风中,
在日下消融吗?
And what is it
to cease breathing,
but to free the breath
from its restless tides,
that it may rise and expand
and seek God unencumbered?
停止呼吸又是什么呢?
不就是使气息
从永无休止的潮起潮落获得解放,
升腾、扩展、无阻碍地寻求上帝?
Only when you drink
from the river of silence
shall you indeed sing.
当你啜饮了静默之河的水之后,
你才真正懂得歌唱。
And when you have reached
the mountain top, then
you shall begin to climb.
当你抵达山巅之时,
你才真正地开始攀援。
And when the earth
shall claim your limbs,
then shall you truly dance.
当大地要索取你的肢体时,
你才真正地开始跳舞。
